The Science of Soap

Sweating is a body mechanism to cool itself off. Besides water, some fat is also secreted at the same time. While the water evaporates, the fat remains on the skin surface. This fat acts like a magnet for dirt & germs to stick onto the skin.

Water alone is not sufficient to wash of the dirt & germs, as the fat acts like an ‘adhesive’. This can lead to some skin problems, such as itchiness or skin rash.

That’s why we use soap to ensure a thorough cleanse. Soap helps to break the bondage of the fat layer, so it can be removed easily with water.

To increase its efficacy, we have added powerful Antiseptic agent to the soap. Our formulation is proven effective to kill harmful germs on the skin, especially Staphylococcus Aureus (Germs causing Skin Infection), Escherichia Coli (Germs causing Diarrhea & Digestion Disruption), as well as Pseudomonas Aeruginosa (Germs causing Respiratory Tract Infection), amongst other.

Various types of Soap

BAR SOAP

The basic material for producing Bar Soap is: Fat (of animal or plant origin).

In Indonesia, plant-based (usually Coconut or Palm Oil) fat is used. The fat is then mixed with an alkaline liquid to produce ‘Soap Base’ with 2 forms: Solid & Liquid.

The Solid Soap Base is processed further by adding other ingredients. After being compressed & stamped, traditional Bar Soap is formed - e.g. Asepso+, Asepso Clean, Asepso Fresh & Asepso Sulphur.

The Liquid Soap Base (known as Glycerin) can also be utilised to create soap. However it needs to undergo a different kind of process. Even though the production process is a bit more complicated than the one of the Solid Soap Base, the final product has a very unique visual characteristic, Transparent. Besides its look, glycerin soap contains a higher level of moisturising agent - e.g. Asepso Transparent Soap.

LIQUID SOAP

The Basic material of Liquid ‘Soap’ (such as Body Wash & Hand Wash) is quite different from bar soap’s. Liquid soap utilises a type of powerful compound called: Surfactant to help to get rid of fat.

Apart from surfactants, other materials (such as moisturising agents, antiseptics etc.) are added into the formulation, to produce the right product for its intended purpose.

Although Body Wash & Hand Wash share similar ingredients and characteristics; ASEPSO’s products are formulated specifically to maximise their cleaning potential and benefits.

Asepso Body Wash is available in the following variants: Original, Hygienic Fresh & Moisture Care.

Asepso Hand Wash is available in 1 variant: Lemon Fresh.
